*Nectar of Instruction: Controlling Speech, Mind, and the Senses in Bhakti*
In this lecture, HH Krishna Kshetra Swami presents Rupa Goswami’s Nectar of Instruction (Upadesamrita) as a concise and powerful manual for spiritual advancement in bhakti-yoga. He explains the overall structure of the text and gives special attention to the first verse, which teaches the control of speech, mind, anger, tongue, belly, and genitals.
Krishna Kshetra Swami describes how these urges affect spiritual life and how they can be purified through hearing sastra, cultivating intelligence, developing good habits, keeping sadhu-sanga, and engaging the senses in Krishna’s service. He also answers questions about the relationship between speech and mind, the role of discipline, and how devotional practice gradually transforms one’s inner life.
This talk is a thoughtful introduction to the practical wisdom of Upadesamrita and its relevance for anyone serious about bhakti.
