*Nectar of Instruction: What Destroys and Nourishes Bhakti*
In this continuing lecture on Rupa Goswami’s Nectar of Instruction (Upadesamrita), HH Krishna Kshetra Swami examines verses 2 and 3, which outline two contrasting sets of principles for spiritual life: what damages bhakti, and what helps it grow.

Maharaj explains the six obstacles to devotion—atyahara (over-collection or overeating), prayasa (over-endeavor), prajalpa (idle talk), niyamagraha (improper relationship with rules and regulations), jana-sanga (worldly association), and laulya (greed or restless longing). He then turns to the six favorable principles—enthusiasm, conviction, patience, proper devotional engagement, giving up unfavorable association, and following the example of saintly devotees.

Along the way, Maharaj offers practical reflections on discipline, association, cooperation, active reading, devotional maturity, and how bhakti is protected and nourished in daily life.
